Part one in Coupon Tips

Decoding Coupon Lingo:

  • BOGO--Buy one, Get one

  • Catalina--A coupon that prints at the end of your transaction, good on your next purchase

  • SS--Smart Source coupon insert from the Sunday newspaper

  • RP--Red Plum coupon insert found in a home mailer

  • PG--Proctor and Gamble coupon insert from the Sunday newspaper

  • OOP--Out of pocket

  • Per purchase--One to one (One item for every coupon.) You may have multiple purchases in one transaction.

  • Per transaction--Specifies when all your items are paid for together. You can do multiple transactions at the same store, but they are divided and paid for separately.

  • E-coupon--Internet coupons loaded onto your local groceries store shoppers card. You do this by going to their website and adding them.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?


You might see these cryptic messages posted on coupon blogs. Here’s the scoop.



  • Example 1: SS 11/21/10 (12-31-10) means Smart Source insert from newspaper dated November 21, 2010. Coupon expires December 31,2010

  • Example 2: $1/2 means one dollar off when you buy two items.
